AGM – Statutory Compliance | NBFC Chennai

Job Description:

An AGM level statutory compliance role in Chennai with a large listed NBFC. You will lead HR statutory compliance for a nationwide branch network, including Shops and Establishments registrations, trade licences, contract staff compliance and the move to the four Labour Codes. Payroll sits with a separate team, so this role is for compliance specialists. Candidates based in Chennai or willing to relocate to Chennai are welcome.

Job Responsibility:

• Ensure every branch holds a valid Shops and Establishments registration and trade licence, renewed on time
• Ensure signage and fire clearances are in place wherever a local body requires them
• Ensure PF, ESI, professional tax and Labour Welfare Fund deposits and labour returns reach the authorities on time in every state
• Own compliance for contract staff, including contractors' minimum wages and their PF and ESI deposits
• Lead the company's move to the four Labour Codes, state by state
• Lead the response to labour inspections and notices

Educational Requirements:

• 15 to 23 years in HR, with HR statutory compliance as the main line of work.
• Led compliance for 300 or more branches or locations across 10 or more states.
• Full time PG in HR or a closely related field, distance and part time degrees do not qualify.
• Based in Chennai or willing to relocate to Chennai.

Experiences:

• Led HR statutory compliance across a multi-state branch network
• Managed regulators and compliance vendors across several states
• Working knowledge of the four Labour Codes and the state rules

Main Duties:

• Govern the compliance agents and consultants who work across the states.
• Manage the company's engagement with EPFO, ESIC, labour departments and municipal authorities.
• Report compliance status to HR leadership every month and lead the statutory compliance team.
